Classroom to Community Programme

Facilitates young people to be actively involved in their communities through volunteerism. Participants develop a range of transversal skills, build competencies and confidences, and become change makers through voluntary action.

The programme gives young people an opportunity to:

Accelerate Confidence

Young people who complete the Classroom to Community programme will realise that they have the skills, attributes and abilities to become agents of change in their community through voluntary action.

Develop Professional Skills

By completing their action project participants develop a range of transversal skills such as Teamwork, Leadership, Communication, Problem-Solving and Self-Management, that have a relevance in their lives now, and in the future.

Increase Empathy and Awareness

We know that empathy has a transformative impact on young people’s lives. By completing our programme, participants develop a greater level of empathy for themselves and others, exemplifying how our diversity makes us stronger as a whole.

Forge Educational Pathways

MyVP is an online portfolio of volunteerism which acts as a pathway to continuing education. Further and Higher Educational institutions will recognise the MyVP as evidence of accomplishments when allocating places for study.

What’s involved?

This programme takes 8-10 weeks to complete, given 1 hour per week.

This programme is designed for young people aged 11 and up. It easily fits with the existing school curriculum and youth work programmes, or, it can be implemented as a stand-alone volunteering programme.

Our eLearning platform is a step-by-step guide, designed around 5 core modules, and includes a range of lesson plans, worksheets, tutorials and animated videos.
We believe in volunteering in action, which is why every programme includes an action project.

Your project should be designed by your group, this creates a sense of ownership that leads to success. The Localise team is available at every step, with action project templates and connections to local organisations in need.

“The [Localise] programme has been really great for our students, it links the community to the school and allows the students to feel like they are being proactive in the face of Covid. It also reflects what we are trying to achieve here in terms of school ethos”

The Localise programme is an excellent, well-developed programme that is very easy & enjoyable to facilitate. The programme aims to bring out the very best in young people by equipping them with the skills to become active youth volunteers within their community. The programme has been running for eight years in Beneavin College, & each year it’s grows strength from strength. It is a joy to be part of Localise.
