Revolutionary MyVP platform now integrated into Ireland’s Digital Wallet Life Events Portal, empowering students with formal recognition and future-ready opportunities.
In a groundbreaking step towards empowering the next generation, Ireland’s National Youth Volunteer Portfolio (MyVP) has been unveiled as a key component of the Government Digital Wallet Life Events Portal. This pioneering platform, developed by Localise, is transforming how young people’s volunteer efforts are recorded, recognised, and leveraged for future success.
At the heart of this innovation is a vision: to enable Ireland’s youth to document their civic contributions in a secure, digital format that aligns with their educational and career aspirations. MyVP allows young people to track volunteering milestones, receive endorsements of skills and attributes, reflect on meaningful experiences, and articulate future goals—all in one streamlined, user-friendly platform.
Empowering Youth Through Digital Innovation
“MyVP isn’t just a tool—it’s a launchpad for young people’s potential,” said Derek Cleary, Director of Localise. “By bridging the gap between community engagement, learning, and employment, we’re creating a future where civic participation is formally valued and visibly rewarded.”
Recent upgrades to the MyVP system mark a significant leap forward:
- Enhanced Digital Portfolio: Young users can now build richer, more reflective records of their volunteering experiences, including the social impact of their efforts.
- Seamless Government Integration: With its integration into the Digital Life Events Programme, MyVP ensures that students’ contributions are formally acknowledged by state services and can support alternative entry routes into higher education.
- User-Centered Design: A newly redesigned interface enhances usability, allowing students to more easily log activities, track skill development, and reflect on their impact.
- Broader Accessibility: Fully compatible with schools and youth organisations, MyVP embeds volunteerism into the educational journey—bringing structure, purpose, and visibility to community service.
A Launchpad to Education and Employment
Volunteering is increasingly recognised not just as a charitable act, but as a key driver of personal development. Through MyVP, students gain:
- Verified records of community engagement
- Development of essential soft skills like teamwork, communication, and leadership
- Stronger college and job applications
- Opportunities for progression into higher education via non-traditional routes
“We believe that by embedding volunteering into education, we’re giving young people the tools and confidence to build a better Ireland,” Derek added.
Getting Started with MyVP
Localise is now inviting schools and youth programmes to onboard students who have completed a Localise programme. The process is simple:
- Provide a few dates/times for an onboarding session
- Ensure students have a device and email address
- Allow approximately 40 minutes for setup
This integration with the Government’s digital services is more than an upgrade—it’s a commitment to making youth voices and actions visible, valued, and impactful.
